Next month I am attending a workshop in the Berkshire Mountains, meeting and working with Maestro
don Mariano Quispe Flores. As this workshop welcomes the novice as well as those who have done
Shamanic work for some time, and as it is a rare opportunity to meet with a Peruvian Shaman, and as
some of you have expressed an interest in the shamanic teachings, I wish to share with you an email
I received today from the facilitator of the workshop:
Dear Friends,
I just want to update you on don Mariano’s pilgrimage through North America. His travels in
California and Washington State were an astounding success. Under the loving an caring leadership
of Ray Nobriega, don Mariano traveled the Pacific coast, encountering vibrant crowds who took in his
teachings, healings and Despacho ceremonies from Los Angles all the way up to Mt. Rainier. He also
had encounters with dolphins, friendly deer that he thoroughly enjoyed singing to and feeding and a
cattle ranch with multitude of wacas (cows) as he has never seen before! His sense of humor lightened
people’s hearts all along the way. Don Mariano left California with lifetime memories he will surely
not forget and all those whom he touched were awed at the simplicity of a man who walks softly and
carries a big stick.
Continuing his travels, we all gathered in Nederland, Colorodo and with the support of Jennifer
Schofield and Vicky Grossman, we welcomed don Mariano in the majestic Rocky Mountains .. We traveled
to Estes National Park to about 12,000 ft. above sea level, past the tree tops to the tundra where
we found Elk grazing and eagles soaring as well as a multitude of Pachamama’s creatures. Don Mariano
was amazed how much it looks like his beloved Andes and felt homesick. To that he just said to us…
”keep me busy”…
One of my most beautiful memories that day in Colorado was to watch don Mariano give a coca
blessing to our mountains just as the sun was shifting colors in the horizon. I felt blessed to
witness that prayer.
His despacho and healing ceremonies were nothing short of amazing! Again, his simple yet powerful
message gently touched all our hearts. When he spoke of himself it was within the context of how the
natural world touched him and… boy did it ever! I hope you get to hear that story.
Saying good bye in Colorado was quite sad for all those whom left behind as he continues on his travels.
Don Mariano will be visiting us in the North East starting August 6th. I am happy to say that I will
give him the ‘busy’ schedule he wants and needs.
We have a nice crowd signed up for the workshop at the Abode of the Message and we still have room
for more people and a few days before we head out to the Berkshire Mountains. If you are interested

mountains and cities.

GRATITUDE
Precious Ones,
Gratitude is often overlooked as a source of Power, as a source of Peace and Happiness.
Gratitude is often thought of something that is either there, or it is not. Something more or
less out of your hands.
Gratitude, my friends, is something that can easily be cultivated. It simply has to do with
focus, with intent and with choice.
More than anything, it has to do with awareness. Remembering to sit in gratitude from time to
time. Remembering to welcome the feeling of appreciation. The more you focus on the things in your
life for which you are grateful, the more things you will find to be grateful for.
For one thing, things to be grateful for will be drawn to you, as this is a magnetic universe,
and also with a focus on gratitude you will begin to notice things to appreciate. The sun,
the trees, mountains, children, beloved ones… life.
As you find these things to appreciate, which are not difficult to appreciate once you start
looking, you will, with time, also come to appreciate those things that may not seem beneficial.
You will be so in a constant state of being in touch with gratitude, that you will be able to see
the beauty in all of life’s creations.
You will walk with peace, grace and serenity, and as this becomes your dominate state of being,
this is what you will bring into the world.
Do you have any idea of the power of this? Do you have any idea of the light that emits from
such a person? It is glorious to behold.
So start, today, look for something to appreciate. Feel gratitude. As you do, you will notice
that the colors around you become brighter and that life becomes more alive.
