December Newsletter
|
Maia's Musings
Greetings everyone and Happy Thanksgiving :)
Life has been kind to me, (and others), as this is the first year that I am the one doing the turkey.
Was fortunate to find a recipe that not only called for a little of this, and a little of that, but a lot
of praying.
As you may have noticed, or not, my newsletter is now in a new format. Some of you may have been receiving
it for years... in your SPAM boxes and are now wondering... who?
Know that this newsletter serves only one purpose; that we may help each other remember the wonder that we
are.
In my travels I get to take part of many people’s life stories, and what I have found to be true is
that as long as we’re married to the idea that what happened shouldn’t have happened, there will be very little progress
in the way we feel, (regarding that particular subject). Our happiness will then depend on our ability to not
think about it.
Perhaps we hold the idea that our parents shouldn't have done what they did, or do what they didn't. That
our lover shouldn't have left us, our government disappoint us or our health defeat us.
To truly move beyond a hurt is to move beyond the flawed notion that there is anything that shouldn’t have happened.
Now, we may well have a point in our arguments. It is true that things would be different if only... And yet,
to entertain the idea that all events have their place, is to make peace with your journey, even if only by calling a
truce.
On a personal note, let me share a story. A few weeks ago I had a dream and in this dream Bob, my significant
other, did something truly mystifying. The next morning I could not help but demand that he explain himself.
I knew the absurdity of this, it was after all my dream. In my struggle to let it go, I recognized that in many
ways, our lives are like our dreams and that "reason" isn't always our friend. Sometimes we just have to let go.
Took me weeks though... I mean, why would he do that?
Be well and travel in good speed

Shamanic Approaches to a Modern Life
How about a new tradition for the Winter Solstice?
First, find a good spot in your house for holding intentions. Then place a candle there and a bowl next
to it filled with pieces of potpourri (symbolising sweetness and clarity), acorns (seeds of fruition) or
personal items of significance.
With the notion that the Winter Solstice marks a time of going towards brighter days, hold these pieces,
one by one, use your intention and your heart, and breath into them. Breath into them your vision and your
hearts desire of what the next year will bring. Then place them around the candle.
You may add a piece one at a time over many days, or all at once.
As you go about your days this will be your personal reminder of the wonders of your life and the potential
it holds.

Wise words from Octuvious
Octuvious - A Source of Wisdom that I refer to as my Spirit Guide
Grief
Precious Ones,
Grief may not be the most common of topics to bring up in the beginning of a holiday season, however it
is true that for many of you, the loss of a loved one has occurred in the winter months, and that even if
this was not the particular time of their parting, the focus on celebration often makes the pain stand out,
the loss making itself more known.
Know, dear ones, that there is only one source to grief, and that is the discord experienced between your
beliefs, and the knowing of source. Source does not know separation, nor does it know death. It sees all as
interconnected and eternal.
What you are experiencing as the loss of a person, is in actuality the disconnect with your own source,
your own inner knowing.
The person, or whatever other loss you are experiencing, is no longer there for you to interact with in
customary ways. This is the loss then. Honor this, honor your life and honor life. Do not make your perception
of loss seem more real to you than life. It may consume you and feel very large, this still does not make it
more real than life.
When you are in nature, and when you connect with the present moment, there are things you will know, for
which there are no words. Trust this knowing.
Know that what is "real" to you, is your choice. Pain is not more real because it is louder. Find your own truth.
This concludes this reading. In our hearts you rest, as we send you love.

Invitation to Meditation
Meeting in spirit from wherever we are.
Sunday December 13, 8:00am to 8:30am.
This month's focus is from a passage from Eckhart Tolles' book -Oneness With All Life:
The true or primary purpose of your life cannot be found on the outer level. It does not concern what
you do but what you are - that is to say, your state of consciousness.

Hypnosis and Cancer
I will be doing a talk at Yale Hospital as part of the "Dignity Project". I will be talking to
mostly nurses and nurse's aids, and the topic is to be about hypnosis and how it may help children with cancer.
What I'm looking for is to create some exercises to teach the nurses. Make it into a bit of a workshop.
If anyone has any experience in the area and would like to give me some input into concernes and issues I might
look at, or simply share stories with me, these would be most welcome.
Anything you share will of course be confidential.
