February Tidbits
|
Welcome
Welcome to yet another month. Do you feel spring coming? I do. To me spring means; promise, new
beginnings, planting seeds and starting fresh.
Winter was about introspection. Spring is about acting on the insights we found.... so maybe I'm a
little ahead of myself. I know there's winter left for us to consort with... and yet, I did get a
whiff of spring the other day.
Be well,
Maia

Maia's Musings
Greetings,
Had a conversation with Gaia the other day, our Mother Earth. She reminded me of the time she spun
nice and straight and perfect. Everything beautifully aligned. What perfection!
Then, completely out of control, along comes this huge, indiscreet, unsightly meteor, hurling
itself towards her. Without as much as an apology it runs smack into her.
The impact is enormous, the trauma deep and profound. Forevermore, she will spin at an angle and
wobble her imperfect body around the sun.
Such unfairness, such injustice.... and yet... if it was not for that impact, if our Gaia was not
spinning at an angle, then wherever you lived, the days would never grow longer, nor shorter. There
would be no seasons, no migrating birds, no spring flowers, no fall foliage, no hibernating groundhogs.
We would not have summer breaks or winter holidays.
It's hard to imagine how life might have evolved without the impact. It seems to me it wouldn't be
the same. So many cycles and so much of her beauty would not be with us.
So remember, when something big and ugly comes hurling your way, it might just be a blessing.

Series of Introductory Workshops into Shamanism
"To the Shaman the Cup is Always Full"
Please note that Shamanism is a belief-system, not a religion. It is the oldest belief-system we know
of, and it predates all organized religions, hence it stands well on its own, while also complementing any
world religion you may subscribe to.
At the heart of Shamanic beliefs is the notion that everything has a spirit, and that all spirits are of
equal value. A glass is not half full, nor is it half empty... it is always full. Half of the glass contains
the spirit of the water, and the other half, the spirit of the air. There is a reverence and appreciation for
all of life's expression, there is acceptance and gratitude. Each person's journey is celebrated and... there
are tools :) Wonderful, practical tools to help us all on this journey called life.
~ The Shaman's Money ~
The goal of this workshop is to help us better understand how our underlying beliefs about money play out
in our lives, and how to create the changes we desire.
These underlying beliefs were most often created in our early years and run in the background, much like
some programs run in the background on our computers.
Apart from learning about the energetic workings of money, this workshop includes hands on exercises and
practical tools.
Sunday February 21, from 2pm to 4pm. (Cost $20)
Pre-registration Required by 02/17/09. Please note that space is limited.
All workshops held at Susan's Fine Salon & Gathering.
To sign up please contact Maia Lynd directly.

Wise words from Octuvious
Hope
"Hope" is a peculiar vibration. Within it one may experience an array of emotions.
“We mustn’t loose hope”, what does this mean? When “hope” is placed in this context it most
often means we must keep our eyes on the possibility of a positive outcome.
Sometimes “hope” feels like sadness, for one has hoped for something for a very long time.
“I keep hoping”… there is a sense of foolishness, or of being fool hearted when “hope” is used in
this context.
There is the casual “hope”, such as, “I hope you can come to dinner”, or “I hope this isn’t too
hot for you.”
“Hope” is better than despair, however it is short of “Trust”, and “Knowing”. You may hope without
trusting. Hope is a little bit like keeping your fingers crossed.
And so instead of saying “We mustn’t loose hope”, one might say, “We mustn’t stop keeping our fingers
crossed.” It would then be better to say, “We mustn’t loose trust”, or rather “we must remember our
authentic self who always trusts”.
When you are hoping for something and it’s really important, you may feel a knot in your stomach.
The knot shows the teeter-totter part of hope. The knot is the part that, even though you wish for one
thing, acknowledges the other less attractive option.
The knot is showing you the presence of fear. When you trust that all is well in the world, and that
whichever comes your way will serve you, one way or another, there will be no knot.
To move from "hope" to "trust" is not always an easy step to take. Know that your true nature is that
of trust, for your true nature is knowing and wise.
It is not asked of you to trust. It is simply suggested to you that you contemplate the option.
This concludes this reading. In our hearts you rest,
as we send you love.

Meditation Inspiration
Meeting in spirit from wherever we are.
Sunday February 14, 8:00am to 8:30am.
This month's focus is from a passage from Eckhart Tolles' book -Oneness With All Life:
The more you make your thought into your identity, the more cut off you are from the spiritual
dimensions within yourself.

A Side Note
On February 11th I will be going over to a new cellphone provider, (one that gives me service
at the East Haddam location). I will be without a phone from that day and 7 to 10 days onward.
If you would like to get in touch with me during that time please email me at:
celebrateyourlight@yahoo.com
Thank you,
Maia
PS. I'm playing with the idea of creating a Poetry Night where people can come and share their own and
others poetry. Thought I'd check in to see if this is this something that might interest you.
