March Tidbits
|
Welcome
Well now... [ahum], in my last newsletter I foolishly mentioned something about Spring. Almost
immediately snow came to all of the fifty states. In this newsletter... there will be absolutley no
mention of the seasons... none of them.
I wish you all good travels through the wonders of your lives :)
Be well,
Maia

Maia's Musings
As I listen to people's stories and travel through the different, and not so different, landscapes
of the mind, more often than not I come across what I call "the panel of judges", somberly sitting there
all smug and mighty, watching every move... at least that's what mine did.
Yes, I had such a panel myself, a very active panel I might add. It kept an eye on me, made sure I
did the right thing, evaluating my actions. Now don't get me wrong, self-evaluation is a fine thing,
however a panel of judges becomes a problem, when we lack trust in ourselves.
Now, if we grew up with parents who handed out rewards and punishments as a way to control our behaviour,
we might have an added problem. If we feel our behaviour needs to be controlled, and we don't trust
ourselves, how seamlessly we give the panel the role of our parents. Handing out rewards and punishments
to ourselves to make us stop our smoking habits or drinking habits or eating habits or any other habit that
feels out of control.
It doesn't work so well does it? In actuality the more the judges try to control us the more out of
control we feel.
So much better to sit down, face to face, with the panel of judges and turn them into a panel of angels.
Hmm... how does that sound? To look at ourselves with compassion and acceptance. Realizing that when we
love and accept ourselves, we come to trust ourselves and we no longer need rewards and punishments to
control our behaviour. We do what's right for us because we are no longer at odds with ourselves.
When we get on board with us, we come to realize just how much energy and focus it took to maintain the
judges and their establishment, how draining and how distracting they were.
Without them, imagine the freedom.

Series of Introductory Workshops into Shamanism
"To the Shaman the Cup is Always Full"
Please note that Shamanism is a belief-system, not a religion. It is the oldest belief-system we know
of, and it predates all organized religions, hence it stands well on its own, while also complementing any
world religion you may subscribe to.
At the heart of Shamanic beliefs is the notion that everything has a spirit, and that all spirits are of
equal value. A glass is not half full, nor is it half empty... it is always full. Half of the glass contains
the spirit of the water, and the other half, the spirit of the air. There is a reverence and appreciation for
all of life's expression, there is acceptance and gratitude. Each person's journey is celebrated and... there
are tools :) Wonderful, practical tools to help us all on this journey called life.
~ Shamanic Beliefs ~
Exploring the beliefs of the indigenous people of the Andes and what they have to teach us about our world
today.

Wise words from Octuvious
Color
greetings precious ones,
To contemplate the present moment; realize that there is much you take for granted. Things that you
believe are as they are, when there is no particular way that they are, other than the way you see them.
Color for instance; you believe that the color an object has is the color of that object, however the
color is not sprayed into your brain for it to analyze, color is a vibration that reaches your eyes and
which your mind translates into an experience of your reality.
Now, the minds’ interpretation of those vibrations is not a constant. The vibration is very much
interpreted and translated depending on your mood.
Colors are brighter when you feel well and joyous. Colors seem dull dreary when you are down. When you
are angry, it may sometimes feel as if the colors are shouting at you.
If, through life experience, you have been train out of your natural connection with your emotions, a
good place to start would be to look at colors. The value of becoming aware of your emotions is that your
emotions create your experience, as everything is an interpretation of vibration through your emotions.
When you can lovingly embrace yourself and within that take full responsibility for all aspect of your life,
including every color… then you are indeed free.
This concludes this reading. In our hearts you rest,
as we send you love.

Meditation Inspiration
Meeting in spirit from wherever we are.
Sunday March 14, 8:00am to 8:30am.
This month's focus is from a passage from Eckhart Tolles' book -
Oneness With All Life:
Defining yourself through thought is limiting yourself. When you fully accept that you don't know,
you actually enter a state of peace and clarity that is closer to who you truly are than thought could ever
be.

Quote of the Month
"The trouble is that you frequently consider the soul or entity as a finished, static "thing" that
belongs to you but is not you. The soul or entity - in other words, your most intimate powerful inner
identity - is and must be forever changing. It is not, therefore, something like a cherished heirloom.
It is alive, responsive, curious. It forms the flesh and the world that you know, and it is in a state of becoming."
From: "Seth Speaks - The Eternal Validity of the Soul" by Jane Roberts
