May Tidbits
|
Welcome
Welcome, welcome to yet another moment in this space time continuum. I hope it finds you at peace.
Someone recently suggested I read "Destiny of Souls", by Michael Newton. A good suggestion.
Now, my take on these matters (what happens after we die) is rather loose. I tend to think that "what
is, is what it is, and what I believe is what I believe and the two are never truly going to be in each
other's vicinity for what Is, is so beyond my comprehension... and that is what that is".
Even so, insights always come in handy, and reflection can be a good thing.
Now, a book dealing with Soul Destinies inevitably raises the question of what it takes to live a
purposeful life. It seems that in our afterlife we're prompted to ask ourselves the following questions:
Did I overcome my shortcomings or did I allow myself to be their victim?
Did I play the game or did I sit in the bleachers?
If I allowed my shortcomings to short-change me, and if I chose to sit in the bleachers, then what
exactly was I afraid of?
Be well,
Maia

Maia's Musings
In the rain that we had, memories came up of an exercise I did at one of the Shamanic workshops.
As usual I’m always so eager to go, then when we get an exercise I cringe. I believe this is because
the exercises are all so… non-tangible, and I’d hate to be the only one who “doesn’t get it”.
This exercise that I was reminded of, was such:
Sit with your created Mandalas and get in touch with, and an understanding of, the difference between
a State of Well-being and a State of Fulfillment...
… see what I mean?
I found myself a secluded place in the room, near a window overlooking the patio of the Zen Center.
A beautiful rain was letting up. Rain can be most settling for the nerves and seemed to fit the moment.
I closed my eyes, opening myself up to receive these wonderful insights into the difference between a
state of well-being and a state of fulfillment…… [sigh]
Breath and just sit with it Maia, close your eyes and something will come to you…
Yup, I was right, plenty of stuff came, nothing much to do with well-being though. This was clearly
not working and so I decided to fall back on a well-proven technique from grammar school…. staring out
the window.
What I ended up looking at was a banister with water droplets clinging to it. Their beauty mesmerized
me as they seemed so completely fulfilled in their perfection…. Fulfilled?! Eureka! Me, the Shaman
should ask the water droplets about fulfillment! I tapped into their essence and what I found was that
their sense of fulfillment was much grander than my own.
It’s true, isn’t it, that we are always fulfilled? The question is:
How much of our own fulfillment do we allow ourselves to experience?
So where does well-being come in? As I saw it, well-being is a tool with which to experience fulfillment.
We create well-being with our thoughts and our actions which, if we allow ourselves full presence in the
moment, bring us access to our own sense of fulfillment.
... now why do I fret?

Wise words from Octuvious
Alignment
We want to present to you the idea of “alignment”. It is becoming quite a popular word, as many
are becoming aware of the benefits of being aligned. There are Yoga and Reiki and many wonderful
practices which will help align your energies, however what does it mean to be aligned? Aligned to what,
and what exactly is aligning itself?
Now, a blade of grass is always in alignment. Its purpose and its “emotions” are always in perfect
alignment with its expression. It does not fool itself, it does not put up a front, or project it’s
feelings onto others. There is nothing pretentious about a blade of grass.
Alignment then, is to know ones purpose, and to live ones purpose, to know ones emotions and to express
ones emotions.
Misalignment occurs when there is a discrepancy between what is, and what is expressed. Emotions held
in, words unspoken, talent unfulfilled… these are the times when you are not aligned with you. The
alignment, you see, is between you, and you.
Meditation is an extraordinary tool with which to be with oneself without judgment. As you come to know
yourself, express that knowing into your day. As you align, so also will your life align.
How easy it is then to wake up. To start noticing the days when the segments flow naturally and
easily, and compare those to the days when nothing works and everything feels like a struggle. Pay
attention and it will be easy for you to know when you are in alignment with you and when you are not, who
you are, and who you are not.
When you find yourself out of alignment, know that you cannot force or hurry yourself into alignment,
you cannot demand yourself into alignment.
Alignment comes from self acceptance and presence.
This concludes this reading. In our hearts you rest,
as we send you love.
